Wendy

As Wendy passed the whiskey and coke on the rocks to the quiet but well dressed man sitting in the window seat, a sun beam bounced of the silver metal wing of the plane and made the glass look like a giant gem with an auburn glow. A little turbulence and she braced herself on the empty seat in front of her. Years of experience flying at high altitude and Wendy hardly noticed the gentle tussle and groan of the plane. She asked the boy next to the man if he was ok and he nodded quietly with wide brown eyes. She could tell he was a little nervous. Wendy smiled and asked the gentleman by the window, “Would you and your son like to see the cockpit?”  Julian swallowed his sip of spirit and soda and quickly replied, “Yes, that would be wonderful!” He unbuckled his seatbelt and helped Allan unbuckle his. Wendy held the boy’s hand and walked up the aisle of the first-class cabin which was mostly empty. After two short knocks and one louder pound on the door, and they could hear a clack, a click, and a whoosh. The cockpit door swung open and they were greeted with a smiling face overlooking their shoulder.
